EPC CASE STUDY PACKAGE

EPC CASE STUDY PACKAGE

EPC CASE STUDY PACKAGE

The EPC Case Study Package is developed for repeating candidates with a valid certificate that do not desire to commit to the full professional programme. Its primary objective is to empower the candidates with the skills required to master the SAICA APC case study assessments. It therefore does not focus on the development of critical professional competencies, but rather focuses on the application and demonstration of those competencies in the context of a case study assessment. Consequently, following the successful completion of the case studies, a certificate of eligibility to sit for the SAICA APC will not be issued.

OVERVIEW

Candidates wishing to enrol for the EPC Case Study Package will benefit from the following:

  • All case study assessments facilitated via SAICA’s SecureClient software
  • Online facilitation of Case Study #1 using the web-based version of the software
  • RSA venue-based facilitation of Case Study #2 and #3 using desktop-based software*
  • Access to CTA/ITC videos from registration until 14 December 2022
  • Detailed and personalised feedback report from the EPC marking team
  • 60 minutes one on one session with a senior marker team member
  • Comprehensive live/pre-recorded feedback sessions on the entire case study
  • Provision of laptops for all venue-based assessments

* Venue-based assessments and provision of laptops will only be facilitated in RSA only, where the number of registered candidates exceed 10 candidates for the respective venue.

APC REPEATERS COURSE

APC PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMME

APC PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMME

APC Professional Programme, Endunamoo’s SAICA accredited professional programme, is an innovative programme designed for first time and repeat APC candidates. The programme’s success is underpinned by a strong focus on the development of business acumen, business writing, critical thinking and ethical leadership. These skills are developed through various practical and professional methods which include discussion sessions, individual and group assessments, and case study assessments.

OVERVIEW OF THE APC REPEATERS COURSE

The APC Professional Programme has suite of five professional courses, namely APC Accelerated Course, APC Comprehensive Course, APC Professional Course, APC Deferred Course and APC Repeaters Course, that all culminate to the award of an EPC Certificate to candidates that have demonstrated professional competence at the exit of the programme. The registration for APC Deferred Course, APC Comprehensive Course and APC Professional Course closed at the beginning of April 2022 while the registration for the APC Accelerated Course is currently open for candidates sitting for SAICA APC2023.

Currently, we are accepting only registrations into the APC Repeaters Course, specifically for candidates that recently sat and were unfortunately unsuccessful in the APC December 2021 rewrite (otherwise, the APC March 2022). These candidates are expected to sit for APC2022. Key details regarding the APC Repeaters Course is provided below.

Our APC Professional Programme is structured in three phases as follows:

  • Phase 1: Development of professional competence (11 April 2022 – 30 April 2022). This phase focuses on outlining key competence areas one is required to master to demonstrate professional competence. Candidates joining the APC Repeaters Course will have the opportunity to catch up on the work covered during this phase using pre-recorded sessions focusing on business acumen, critical thinking, technical competence and professional values and attitudes.
  • Phase 2: Development of professional competence (1 May 2022 – 1 July 2022). This phase focuses on activities directed to demonstrating professional competence in a guided manner, using what we call mini case studies. Candidates joining the APC Repeaters Course will have the opportunity to sit for the second mini case study assessment, have it marked, and feedback received. They will also get an opportunity to catch up on the work covered during this phase using pre-recorded session, to the extent required.
  • Phase 3: Assessment of professional competent (2 July 2022 – 30 November 2022). This phase focuses on assessing candidates’ professional competence through case study assessments. EPC has 3 primary case study assessments and 1 supplementary assessment, and candidates are required to demonstrate competence in at least two of these four case study assessments.

The APC Professional Team will support you in your journey of catching up – it is recommended that you register into the programme as soon as possible to ensure that you do not miss a lot more work. An initial catch-up guidance is included in the APC Welcome Letter that will be issued to you in joining the programme.

TIMELINES

We urge everyone interested in joining the APC Professional Programme to carefully note the key dates outlined below:

  • Open day session: 2 June 2022
  • Registration opening date: 3 May 2022
  • Programme starting date: 6 June 2022
  • Registration closing date: 1 July 2022
  • Registration payment deadline: 1 July 2022

REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for the award of the certificate, candidates need to have completed at least 20 months of their training contract by the first day on which the SAICA APC assessment is written and should have successfully completed ITC. Furthermore, candidates need to demonstrate competence in at least two of our case study assessments.

Our APC Professional Programme is extremely demanding and as a result, we have set an additional requirement that candidates need to have successfully completed ITC by 31 March 2022 to enrol or remain enrolled into the professional programme. Consequently, candidates that are expecting to sit for the ITC assessment in June 2022 will not be eligible to register and qualify for an EPC Certificate in the 2022 academic year.

DELIVERY METHOD

The APC Professional Programme will be delivered on an online basis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Should circumstances dramatically improve during the 2022 academic year, it is our desire to resume with Face2Face classes at a venue close to our admin office in Midrand, Johannesburg. Further information will be shared in due time.

With regards to our case study assessments, the first case study assessment is facilitated on a non-venue basis while the other three case study assessments are facilitated on a venue basis, at venues based in South Africa. We apply certain criteria prior to facilitating the venue-based assessments as well as in selecting the venues. Should you wish to clarify the criteria prior to registration, please study our comprehensive APC Questionnaire and/or contact our APC Caretaker.

CIMA2CA APC COURSE

CIMA2CA APC ACCELERATED COURSE

The CIMA2CA APC Accelerated Course (‘APC Accelerated Course’), which forms part of the APC Professional Programme offered by Endunamoo Professional Course (EPC), is specifically designed for CIMA members. After the successful completion of the APC Accelerated Course, qualifying candidates are issued with an EPC Certificate which will allow them to sit for the SAICA APC, and by extension APC facilitated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia (ICAN) and Eswatini Institute of Accountants (EIA). The EPC certificate is valid for three years from issue date.

A compact information pack about our APC Accelerated Course is downloadable via this link.

OVERVIEW

The APC Accelerated Course is a 14-month professional course commencing on 1 August 2022. The APC Accelerated Course has five phases, with the later phases coinciding with the other professional courses, as fully described below.

Outline Description
TRANSITION PHASE

(August 2022 – December 2022)

This phase focuses on providing a smooth transition process for CIMA members into the CA(SA) qualification journey. The work in this phase is primarily focused on building technical proficiency as it pertains to the specific technical disciplines forming part of the CA(SA) academic qualification, namely: ACC (incorporating financial and external reporting), AUD (incorporating auditing, assurance, professional ethics and governance), MAF (incorporating financial management, costing, strategy and risk management) and TAX. The objective is to develop CIMA members to a similar level of technical proficiency as would have been assessed and demonstrated in the ITC assessment.

In this phase, you will be guided through the technical resources to use to build technical competence (e.g., accounting and auditing standards, tax and auditing legislations and management and financial accounting frameworks). The phase will include modular (block release) sessions and guidance for self-study work to be completed in between the blocks. The success of this phase will be measured through quizzes and summative tests.

FOUNDATION PHASE

(January 2023 – February 2023)

Building from the Transition Phase, this phase focuses on developing technical proficiency that would have been developed in the academic programme (CTA) and demonstrated in the ITC assessment within the context of the APC. In the APC, technical proficiency is a foundational skill upon which the professional programme builds pervasive and professional skills on.

The objective of the Foundation Phase is to upskill you technically to ensure that you can demonstrate this skill in case-based assessments later in the programme and to enable ease in the development of pervasive and professional competencies (e.g., ethical leadership, critical skill, business acumen, decision making, business writing and professional attitudes and values) later in the programme.

DEVELOPMENT PHASE

(March 2023 – April 2023)

The purpose of the Development Phase of the programme is to understand and develop the pervasive and professional competencies outlined in the competency framework to enable you to demonstrate these competencies in tackling a multi-disciplinary case study during the Demonstration Phase of the professional programme. There are sessions scheduled for the development of business acumen, critical thinking, ethical leadership and incorporating technical competence in the APC.
DEMONSTRATION PHASE

(May 2023 – June 2023)

The purpose of the Demonstration Phase of the programme is to learn how to demonstrate the professional competencies developed in the previous phase using a multi-disciplinary case study in the form of a previous SAICA APC case study. In addition, there are sessions scheduled for the development of effective communication skills and to build your relational acumen (coaching support, working as effective team and mentorship).
ASSESSMENT PHASE

(July 2023 – November 2023)

The Assessment Phase, the last phase in the professional programme, focuses on assessing candidates’ professional competence through case study assessments. The professional programme has three (3) primary case study assessments and one (1) supplementary assessment, and you are required to demonstrate competence in at least two of these four case study assessments prior to being eligible for the award of the EPC certificate. The facilitation of our case study assessments is aligned to the actual APC structure to help you geared to the actual APC. A significant support is provided throughout the phase using reflection packs, feedback session, significant personalised feedback and consultations.

REQUIREMENTS

The course is specifically designed for eligible CIMA members wishing to become CAs(SA) which requires them to register for an accredited professional programme and sit for SAICA’s second qualifying examination which is the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)).

Candidates desiring to be part of the APC Accelerated Course are required to confirm their eligibility to enrol into our APC Professional Programme by submitting a letter provided by SAICA stating that they qualify for the SAICA Professional Programme. For guidance on obtaining this letter, interested CIMA members need to follow the guidance in this link.

We strongly recommend that all candidates registering for the APC Accelerated Course to purchase the SAICA Handbooks (Volume 1, 2 and 3). For your convenience, we have added these handbooks on the registration page under ‘CIMA Conversion’ to allow you to add them to the course offering when registering for the APC Accelerated Course. Alternatively, you can purchase these handbooks directly from Takealot or any other reputable bookstore.

Should circumstances dramatically improve during the 2023 academic year, it is our desire to resume with Face2Face classes at a venue close to our admin office in Midrand, Johannesburg.
